About Giancarla

Where it started

Where it started

Where it started

Giancarla's path to law ran through the airwaves. She began her media career in New York at WSKQ-FM 97.9 — La Mega, New York's number one Spanish-language radio station, advancing from production to on-air reporting.

She represented her community as Miss Puerto Rico, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade Queen in New York. The following year, she was named Miss San Juan Universe and placed in the top 10 at the Miss Puerto Rico Universe Competition.

After her time as a titleholder, Giancarla founded the Miss Puerto Rico Scholarship Organization, holding the official Miss America state license for Puerto Rico. As Executive Director and President since 2009, she managed all legal, financial, and operational aspects. Her dedication resulted in over $78,000 in scholarships and more than $20,000 raised for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Under her leadership, the organization received two prestigious license renewals from the Miss America Organization, and her collaboration was recognized as crucial to the program's success.

Those experiences taught her what a law degree alone cannot: how to read a room, how to represent a brand under public scrutiny, and what it feels like to be the talent whose name is on the contract. It is the reason her tagline is not a marketing line.

The career

Giancarla Sambo is an entertainment and media law attorney and business affairs executive with nearly two decades of experience closing complex deals across television, streaming, live events, global touring, and branded content, in English and in Spanish.

She has served as in-house counsel at Essence Communications and Business Affairs Manager at The Washington Post. Before law, she built her career in front of the camera and behind the microphone, as a broadcast journalist, on-air talent, and pageant titleholder. That background is not a biography. It is what makes her different at the negotiating table.

More than 3,000 agreements. Portfolios exceeding $60 million. Nearly two decades of knowing what is at stake for the people whose names are on the contracts.

“The strongest media organizations balance creativity with operational discipline, speed with governance, and growth with integrity.”
