Legal & Business Affairs — What This Means

In a media organization, legal and business affairs sit at the center of every deal. Legal ensures the organization is protected. Business affairs ensures the deal gets done. The most effective practitioners do both, bringing the legal rigor of an attorney and the commercial judgment of a deal executive to the same table. That is the practice described on this page.

Legal Foundation

Attorney credentials

Giancarla Sambo is an entertainment and media law attorney with an LL.M. in Entertainment and New Media Law from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and a J.D. with a concentration in Contracts from Inter American University School of Law. She has practiced entertainment law for nearly two decades across talent agreements, content licensing, IP clearance, sponsorship, branded content, and cross-border transactions.

Her legal practice is built on a dual foundation of U.S. common law and Latin American civil law, which is rare in entertainment and essential for any media organization operating across U.S. and Latin American markets.

The differentiators

What Makes This Different

Attorney and executive — not one or the other
The legal credential is the foundation. The business affairs capability is built on top of it. Organizations get both in one engagement, legal rigor and commercial judgment, applied simultaneously to every deal.

Bilingual and cross-border by design
Native bilingual in English and Spanish. Fluent in both U.S. common law and Latin American civil law. For media organizations with Latin market operations, content, or partnerships, this is the foundation, not a supplement.

Operational fluency across the full organization
Having managed cross-functional deal teams across legal, finance, marketing, and creative, this practice understands how a media organization actually runs and builds legal infrastructure that works with all of it.

Industry fluency earned from the inside
A background as a broadcast journalist, on-air talent, and media executive means understanding the business from both sides, the creative priorities, the commercial pressures, and what is actually at stake in every deal.

How to Engage. Engagement models.
